im doing some upgrades to my 300ex and was wondering if there where some things i should put on? it has a full skid plate and swing arm guard, ngk iridium plug, uni filter, and this weekend im putting on a full FMF exhaust and jet kit.
when i asked about 300ex's a couple months ago i got some good tips on extras, but i cant remember them all now so refresh my memory please!

your on the right track. gonna need a cdi box though, the 300s run into thier rev limit to fast with the mods you have. youl see when you get the xhaust on. also upgrading the shocks and some wheel spacers will make a DRAMATIC difference in the riding, jumping and looks department. can get the bracket and some 400ex shocks pretty darn cheap. if you dont have nerfs, get'm theyll save your ankles. for more power you can look into the sparks timing key. hope this will get ya started

Tires and a bumper. Get some ITP T9 rims that are wider than stock and have a greater offset, along with some Holeshot tires or something and it will make the bike several inches wider, for a nice increase in stability. Wheel spacers are a bad idea.
The suspension on the little EX is nothing special, and it's no good to go faster if you don't have the suspension to handle it. Take a look at some WorksPerformance shocks.

If you can find a 2001 Raptor shock, it will bolt right into the back, MUCH better than the stock 300ex shock, you may need to put a longer hose on for the res, I did it because I had the shock apart for a rebuild anyway. I think the Warrior shock will also bolt in, it has a very long hose on it, it would also be a step up from the stocker, and much cheaper than aftermarket. Definately go with the 400ex front arms/shocks set up, very nice travel increase, and handles much better, just need longer tie rods to go with it. As stated before, do NOT use rear wheel spacers,my son bent the axle right by the wheel after some hard jumps, the spacer puts too much stress on the axle for hard stuff, offset wheels or a longer axle is the way to go, I've got a longer one ready to go in now. Other than that, sounds like you have a handle on it, you will like the performance once all your new parts are on. I don't know if you are running the stock lid or not, but there is very little air flow into the stocker, either put a Outerwears cover over an open box, or run several Uni filter holes in the lid, makes it breath a lot better.

thank you guys very much for the upgrade advice! im gona jet it for running with the lid off the air box, but put uni filters in next week. i will have to see about the cdi upgrade, what company makes those and how much? im more than happy with the stock suspention, but mabe put on a raptor rear shock later. handeling wise i wouldnt change a thing. it already has a durablu exlended rear axle on it, so im not interested in going wider. stability is great!
thanks for the ideas guys!

yea the axle is the correct way to go. just the spacers are a fraction of the price. didnt realize you already had the ext axle. i just got the ANR stage 2 kit. comes with a rev box and a higher spark coil. cost round 120 on ebay. but you can just get the rev box for like 40-60 buks. with the ful xhaust your gona be hitting the rev limit constantly, its almost annoying. also dependin where you ride id highly consider jetting with the air cover on. maybe drill it. if your running threw any kind of water it always seems like it finds it way up to the airbox. good luck
