switching types of oil?

EXACTLY!
Things must be real slow in the Kawi forum, so Turbo has to come over to the Honda forum to find some entertainment and seek out words of wisdom!

Goggle "Synthetic vs conventional" and besides a cheaper price fine just one advantage dinosaur oil has over synthetic. Like all dealership conventional OEM oil, they can sell the stuff at synthetic prices and make a killing.

You didn't add one single productive thing to this discussion!!!
At least some of us have taken the initiative to educate ourselves about the technology, rather than just in blind ignorance buying whatever we happen to find on the dealer's shelf (or God forbid, Wal-Mart).
Honda sells oil, so of course they are going to recommed their one oil for their own machines. But just like most everybody else, their oil has to contain downgrades to meet a price point, or otherwise you will go to Wally World instead for sure. That's the compromise they have to make.
Honda could come out with a 5 pound titanium frame, but only a select few would be willing to pay extra to get one. Same with oil. There are a few companies that don't compromise, and there are a few of us who are willing to pay for their expertise.
My mangina is showing????....but at least I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!!

i am the one who asked this question in the first place. all i wanted was a yes go for it, or no dont do it... and i have 3 pages of people having a PI$$ING contest on who knows oil better, takes care of their machines better, has records(cant be that great i never heard about it). frankly i dont care if you eat corn crap in bags and pick the pieces out of it. i just wanted a straight answer. however i did come to one conclusion that i will stick with what im already using. i dont need to switch over because what i use works just fine. to be honest recon i always look for your advice because you seem to know your $H!T. thank you for all of your imput

How old are you? Knock off the personal attacks and answer the questions I have asked. This will show everybody how much knowledge you have about engines in automotive, ATV's and in general.

Turbo....I'm not in here to answer YOUR questions!!!! I rarely ever take more than a quick glance at your posts anyway, because I know you! You are just a bored Kawi owner, cruising the Honda forum looking for trouble.....
400EX....As for sticking with Honda's GN4, think of it as Honda's "stock" oil. Most folks when they get a new machine, don't stick with the mediocre "stock" stuff for very long!
For example, the stock tires on a 400EX and the crappy heavy bendomatic steel handlebars aren't that great, so folks change them out for aftermarket really quick. Same with GN4....it's just the mediocre stock stuff, and meant only for mediocre stock kind of owners who just don't really care. You bothered to post a question so it seems like you must care (hey....at least you are changing your oil!), but if you always make price your sole controlling factor, then you will never get anything upgraded. Honda's HP4 is at least a step up, and if you insist on a Honda oil at least upgrade to HP4 (but NO HP4M).
All the facts are out there, so enough said on this topic!

I think the below quote sums up oil nicely.
I would have to agree wiith that one 100%.

noticed a bit of a difference when i stared running synthetic in my 2 stroke machines (they seem faster smoke less)...so im sticking with synthetic in all my machines. is syn better ? but i will continue to use it in my 99 pistons With TURBOS and NITROUS!
