Honda 350 Rancher FE
#1
Hi All
I'm brand new to the site and need some help
I have a 350 Rancher Fourtrax FE and I'm having trouble shiftingup and down. I just put a new angle sensor in and it didn't help.
If I rock it around some and push the button enough I can eventually get it to pop into reverse and then more playing around and get it back into neutral, same deal for 1st. Sometimes when it does shift into 1st it doesn't display a 1 on the display, just 3 dashes instead "---". I just bought the machine and don't have a book of any kind yet. I am wondering what the solenoid looking thing is above the angle sensor and if that has anything to do with the shifting. I can feel movement inside of it when I hit the shift buttons. Any help here would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Most manual shift bikes (which is what yours is, it replaces using your foot with an electric motor that does the same thing) are hard to shift when stopped, often you have to shake the bike or roll it while shifting for it to shift easilly.
If this happens while your moving then I dont have an answer, but if your stopped and finding shifting difficult then gently roll the bike back and forth while you shift to the right gear. Eventually you'll get used to shifting to 1st or neutral as your slowing down to a stop.

FE is 4 wheel drive Electric shift...
What year is it ? After 2002 they have a self diagnostic feature built into the ECM
There are a number of issues that can cause what you are experiencing from a stuck clutch, bad battery, bad gear position sensor or weak shift motor. Even high idle.
If you can't get it figured out, PM me. I will help

I just got the machine and don't know that much about fixing them.....yet
I've never adjusted the clutch. but if that even might help I'd be glad to give it a try. Can you tell me how to go about it? I'm good with cars but these things are a whole new animal
thanks,
Paul
