Default 400ex all the way

I would rather have a 400ex over a banshee any day of the week and I dont know what kind of modded banshees you all have around you but ours are pretty modded we have rode against and we out run them all day long with a 400 ex that is piped jetted and has an aftermarket carb. Infact, my buddie on his CRF250r stock outran the fastest banshee i have seen while riding a wheelie. I wouldn't have a high maintenance POS 2-stroke if you gave it to me.

Did you say 100 FEET? I would think an EX should be able to cover 100 feet before a Banshee is able to even launch.

If the race were any longer you wouldn't stand a chance, but it shouldn't be to hard to beat a 'Shee in such a short race.

A very well built 426, good head work, 13:1 comp, bigger valves, custom cam, lightened flywheel, full exhaust, 450r carb and a few other little things will do it. I did it many many times with mine. That short of a race is no problem for a built 400ex.

Right. Short distances the EX may take it. Piped' EX will for sure. That is a stock shee anyway.

What is the deal with everyone saying "buy a shee...buy a shee" ?? Fact is the 'shee is worst in almost every department. Handling is horrid, If something goes wrong you'll be replacing two replacement parts, you have to go thru the hastle of mixing gas and keeping seperate cans, trail riding...forget trail riding you wont' be any on a 'shee. I'd take the 400ex over that thing any day, in any circumstance outside dune riding or if I decide to start drag racing.

Faster does not equal better.

Best bet is getting a good used pipe, and jet up the carb. Make shure you have plenty of tread, and drop the psi to 3 in the rear. If your going to race more than 100ft, concider 11:1 piston, and a stage 2 cam. Stock banshees dont launch hard, so your best bet is repipe and jet, and some tires.

And those who believe banshees suck at trail riding, and handling are pretty ignorent. I have seen some fast banshees do good on trails when the rider knows how to handle the powerband, and not foul the plugs. I have ridden YFZ450's, raptors, TRX's, and the only difference is the 450's suspension is rough, and stiff. Point is that its not about the quad, but the rider. Just because you have a banshee dosnt mean you are good at drag racing, and just because you have a 450 dont mean you are good around a track.

Right. Which is why they suck on trails. You HAVE to learn to ride them. Which is a trick on even semi-technical trails. Anybody can get through trails on any ex and even on a 450 after getting used to the clutch but, a banshee...That takes some practice.
