Default 1987 TRX350D Foreman bogs/cuts out

I have a low hour 1987 TRX350D that looks and runs great for the most part, except that when you blip the throttle quickly its cuts out/bogs.
If you move the throttle very slowly it will do ok. I have checked the needle and it is on the 3rd cutout. Valve is adjusted to open with throttle properly. Pilot is about 1 and one half turns out and have adjusted in and out to no avail. Compression is 155-160 lbs. Inside of carb is clean and plug seems to be burning fairly clean.
Going to check valves clearances tomorrow
Any help or hints appreciated

I would bet it's a clogged idle jet leaving you lean, especially on the bottom.

Nope-swapped carbs from an identical machine and did exact same thing.

Starts perfect, idles fine, cuts out/bogs when blipped but not when you ease it on up.
Spits a little gas out the carb at higher rpms too.
Pilot adj made no noticible difference for the problem 2 turns either way.
Appears to be running rich as it has a little black smoke on higher rpm.
I am also thinking bad gas or possible plugged exhaust that needs cleaning.
An old shop workorder that came with the bike said it appeared to be in the head and was acting like a loose seat- not sure what those symptoms would be.
I pulled the head yesterday and piston and head was carboned up and a lot of carbon buildup in the exhaust passage-not sure whats normal though.
Also not sure if its from oil or too rich mixture - only smokes a little black at high rpm.
Valve seals seem tough and baked so I am sure a little bit of oil was getting by them.
On inspecting valves the parts measured good, but it seemed to me like one of the exhaust valves was not seating properly. It did not have a well defined silver ring around the contact area like the others.
I will redo head and keep fingers crossed.
I was hoping for something obvious to come popping out at me......
What would the symptoms be for an exhuast valve that was not seating properly?
openn for ANY other things to check before I put it all back together here in a day or so.
Will keep all posted.
Thanks
