The rear tire of your quad will not ride up the back of your leg--and break it--if your foot comes off the footpeg.

Ditto!

All racing organizations require them, that should tell you something! You can ride all your life, and if they only save you one time...it will have been worth it.

For all those times your jumps/landings/slipping doesn't go so well, they are nice things ( their like baskets for your feet ) to have so your leg doesn't get sucked under your back tire! I would say they pay for themselves as a couple hundred bucks verses broken leg (or more!) and not being able to ride for a couple months . That and I think they look pretty cool on quads!

I don't like nerfs, personally. I sold mine and haven't missed them.

I went to Little Sahara many years back, took a spin on my buddie's Banshee, took a jump too hard, foot went off peg, under spinning rear tire, pulled leg down almost to knee, did a real job on my ankle (work boots, no riding boots) so I give a hearty YES to nerf bars.

The day I installed mine, I slid sideways into a tree while trailing and didn't smash my leg. they're also good for keepin your leg attached at the hip when your foot slips off the peg. It's a great grab bar when trying to pull your machine out of that mudhole sideways.

Why aren't descent tires standard equipment? Or light alloy handlebars? Or a reasonable bumper? Full chassis skid and swingarm skid plates, etc..........

Yup they keep your feet off the ground.......

Nerfs also stop opposing ATVs from smashing into your feet while racing, they stop sticks and logs from popping up and smashing your feet/shins/knees after your front tire kicks them up.....they are cheap insurance......
