I'd run it hard until you get over 20 hours on it, and see what happens...

I'll agree with both,it sat for 2 years at the dealer so that's possible,I'll continue to ride it and get 20 on it,maybe it will clear up

I dont think the hondas are as reliable as they say. The other day on a ride a guy was trying to tow out another vehicle with his honda and the 4wd wasnt even working and now i read about this awful story. I sure hope this isnt your first quad or it may ruin your views on atvs. A japanese brand should run for 1000's of kms without any problems.

Lucky it's not my first,we have a 02 SP500 which is my favorite,a Honda 300 and a Eton 90 which is bullet proof,I've owned others but ended up selling them.I've rode a ton of sport quads but this is my first I've actually owned,it's a great ride but it has a issue I'm narrowing down.I've always worked on my own stuff but I'm not going into it due to the warranty,I'm leaning towards the carburetor,it cut off twice today but started back up as well as the float hang up last week.I'll give it 20 hours ,adjust the valves, change the oil and take it to the dealer if it's still doing it,I would not want them to charge me for something I can do.

Back in 2001 or 02 my wife's dad and her uncle both bought new Rancher's the same day,the only difference was one was orange and the other was red.My wife's dads header turned cherry red the first trail ride and quit, the same day on the same ride her uncles started smoking, both went back to Honda on the same trailer they left on only 5 days later. Not sure what they did to her dads but he traded it in at Polaris the same day he got it back from honda running again, her uncle's got a rebuild he took it home and it started smoking again after a week or two and they tried to find pitting in the cylinders ect.. or any source of mud or sand in the motor but could not and rebuilt it again,he eventually traded his for a older Foreman he still rides today.Talk about weird
