Default 2001 300ex starting problems

My gf has a 01 300ex and we have been having some problems with the starter/solenoid. At first it sounded like the battery was dead when she pushed the start button from hearing a the clicking noise on the solenoid. I charged the battery and kept the charger on it and tried starting it. It wont start. It just clicks. The lights come on so i know there is juice. The starter wont turn over unless i tap on it while i press the button, and that is only sometimes it works. I have another starter off a 300ex and tried swapping them out but the same thing happened with the other starter. Is it both starters going or is the solenoid shot and not letting enough juice through to turn the starter? Im gettin sick of push starting her on the trail. lol Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

either the solenoid is bad or you need to clean all your cables up, to and from the solenoid, all the way down to the starter, take some wd-40 and sand paper or a wire brush or something and make sure all those connections are clean, with no corrosion, rust, dirt anything.

Sounds good. I'll try that tonight and see how things go. Hopefully it isnt the solenoid. If that doesnt work how much is a solenoid nowadays?
