Default 300ex question

Well i have a 1996 honda 300ex.My question is i want to lift my 300ex.I do alot of trail riding and playing in the mud with it.I cant find a lift kit for it.So i was thinking i would just get wheel spacers and bigger rear tires and front tires. My question is how big of tires could i get the the rear and front tires,Without damaging anything else.

You can go pretty big on the rear tires. I have a friend that has 25" rears on his 300EX. The problem is, the bottom end power will absolutely be horrible with taller tires. His is like a snail on the bottom end.

If the bottom end suffers, you can change the front or rear sprocket. OEM is 13/38. You can go 12/38 or 12/39.

If you get stronger springs so the suspension is at max droop all the time you could probably get away with just about anything on the back that will fit under the fender. Just measure the distance between the axle and the closest part of the fender at full compression (buddy will help here).

The fronts are going to be dictated by the clearance on the foot peg frame area I think.

22" is the stock height so a 25" would be an increase of 13%. So...13/38 gearing is a ratio of 2.92:1. Increase that to 3.29:1 to get the 13% increase. That is right between what budedm suggested.
