Was riding a friends 2001 Rubicon today, he put a new battery in it this morning and I rode it for maybe 3 hours and the battery went completely dead giving me no electrical power. We know its not the winch draining it, but it seems as though when the bike is running its not charging the battery, and is in fact draining it very rapidly.

whats the best place to start with this? We already disconnected the winch.

 

check voltage reg first, if no output there go to the stator, not very many elements to a charging system, regulator, battery, stator, wiring, covers about all of em

 

Here is the alternator test .. You can't test the reg/rec ..

sure ya can check the regulator, honda just doesnt put the test in their manual

 

Ok, so apparently it was the battery. We put it on charge last night and figured we would look at this morning. It never held a charge. My uncle seems to think it has a dead cell in it. We hooked up a different battery started it and disconnected the battery and it stayed running for 20 minutes.
