I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTING, THE BIKE COMES EQUIPT WITH AN ATTACHMENT FOR MANUAL SHIFTING USE. HAVE ANY OF YOU USED IT . TELL ME MORE . GREATLY APPRECIATED.

There are several posts on this board regarding RANCHER ES shifting problems......I have the RANCHER ES but have had no problems with mine....bro-in-law has the same bike and has had no problems (other than if you wash it in sub-freezing weather the buttons freeze).
You either like ES or you don't.....if you're thinking about purchasing one, go to a dealer and ask to ride one (make sure you have a 12oz can to test ride with as it's nearly impossible to ride one-handed). I like mine but you may not like it.
As for ES problems, it's like anything else....if it's man-made it can break)

MAKWHEELER,
I BOUGHT THE ES YESTERDAY AND THEY ARE DELIVERING IT ON TUESDAY. MY QUESTION IS DOES THE MACHINE COME WITH AN ATTACMENT IN THE TOOL KIT(FACTORY SUPPLIED) IN CASE YOU ARE DEEP IN THE WOODS AND THE ES SYSTEM FAILS SOME HOW. TO MANUALY SHIFT IT?

Is there a back up shift lever in the trunk of the Rancher?

Just turned over 1000 miles this past weekend, no shifting problems. The only problem so far is not having enough time to ride

Yes there is a hand shifting tool in the trunk of the ES. There are instructions in the owners manual on how to use it. It only slides on the shifter so it is not advisable to use like a manual shift, but it will allow you to select a gear to get you back.

Hey, hennyhog: I think snowshark knew he had a backup manual shifter. That winking smiley face let the cat out of the bag for me. In other words he was just kidding and giving the Rancher a comment on how durable it was.
