416 help!!??!!
#1
I asked once already but here it goes again. I put my 416 together and it ran perfect. Just like new. I put in an 11:1 comp JE and a TC racing cam. I already had a K&N filter on. It was running great. AFter finally getting it together, I rode about 5-10 min. Then it sat for a few days and I rode it again. Then it sat for a few days and it wouldn't start. It now sucks in through the exuast. I think it's the decompression unit. The timing was not jumped, it was still on and the valves aren't bent or sticking. I think something could be wrong with the decompression unit, but I don' know. What do you think? Please help. I want to go riding again. Thanks.

I had a friend of mine take the decompression unit off the stock cam and put it on the new one. He isn't qualified to do it, so maybe he didn't do it right. I don't really know. What samll thing and sping under the cam? Thanks.

I bet it is something with the decompressor. That device is supposed to hold open one of the exhaust valves when you're starting the engine. It sounds like it is holding that exhaust valve partially open at the wrong time or maybe all the time. Maybe you should take it off because it isn't necessary to use it. In the service manual, they explain how to remove and reinstall the decompressor. If your friend didn't have the manual when he installed it there is a good chance that he did it wrong and could have bent something on it.
