250X bogging down at full throttle??? HELP!
#1
last night we went riding in the snow...
all night, the snow continued to fall, it was blowing and breezy and I was always behind someone getting roosted...
anyway... anytime I ran wide open for more than a minute or two, it wanted to bog down and stall out when I let off the gas...
I had to constantly downshift to keep the rpms up to keep the motor from stalling...
yet, when I came to a stop, it would idle just fine... but when I tried to give it gas it would bog and stall...
after letting it idle for a minute or two, I could gradually hold on the throttle until it cleared up, and I could ride again...
this happened all night long.
ANYONE have any idea what was happening to my quad?
my theory was that at high speeds, snow was accumulating in my air intake frame tubes, choking the engine... and after letting it set for a few minutes, the engine heat melted the snow and I could continue...
what do you think???

I have the valves and clutch checked every 6 months...
I was riding with a mechanic at the time, he said it was acting like there was water in the carb...
possible, since it was snowing and blowing so much... but why didn't it happen to any of the other quads???

What are the symptoms of valves needing adjusting? just wondering because when I give my quad a bump of throttle at idle it will stall, unless the RPM's are up a little bit allready, but on a dead stop and I punch the gas it will stall on me. It's not that it's flooded either because it starts right back up easily.

turn the mixture screw clockwise about 2 times to keep it from stalling after you punch the trottle. Sounds like you had a lot of water in the carb and a fouled plug too

My 250X sometimes does this in rain, I would just take the bowl off the carb. and dump the gas and water out, replace and when it gets gas back into the carb., try to see if it runs better, good luck, I know how much fun snow is
