Thanks,
I'm having the same problem with my '07. What did you end up doing to fix this problem?

My son ran the battery dead and I attempted to jump it off my charger. The dash displays a "-" in the gear selector and the buttons do not advance the gears. It will turn over but will not start.

Thanks,
Joe

This is a safety mechanism on the bike. Use the manual shift tool to put the transmission back into neutral. ThIs tool is under the seat. The owners manual gives the step b step. There is a small hex bolt shifter on the front of the transmission. When it is back in neutral the "-" will change back to an "N" and the green indicator will come back on. (Because of the safety mech the bike will not even start by holding the brake in as you would when in normal operation to start it in gear.) Once back in neutral, turn the key off and then back to on. When I did this my bike started right up. Hope this helps.
