Default 1999 honda trx300fw timing

I'm trying to put my timing chain back on the gear and onto the camshaft but I believe we accidentally moved the bottom gear and now the timing could be off...How can i check to see if the bottom gear is in the right position. Any answers would be helpful...thanks ahead of time.....

on the left side engine cover you will find two round plugs with a slot. The one farther back is for the starter reduction gears. Through this hole you can use an allen wrench to turn the engine counterclock-wise. The plug to the front is over the flywheel(rotor). You will see a "T" and a "F" mark. Align the T mark with the center of the hole making sure the engine is on compression stroke(vallves closed). This gets piston at TDC. Align marks on cam with surface of head and it should be in time. Hope this makes a little sense. I can do it better than I can explain it.

Look at the lobes on the cam where the rockers will touch. The high spots(pointed side) on the cam will cause the valves to open and the lower spots(rounded side) lets the valve close.
