I might have missed it. Did it say if he was wearing a helmet or not? It just might be my normal Monday morning reading abilities. I agree about helmets. In his case if he was wearing one it probably saved his life. If he wasn't wearing one, it probably would have kept him from getting the severity of damage to his body.

It said his "helmetless head" hit the pavement.......

If I remember correctly somewhere there is actually video of this crash....the kid was doing a wheelie on a Banshee, down the street, while his buddies in a truck are riding next to him filming. I've seen this story on one of those video shows like "cheating death" or one of those Tru TV shows.

Interesting that he doesn't say whether or not he had a helmet on the two days he went out and rode again. I would think that after all he's been through, and those med bills that are no doubt being paid for by his parents and the taxpayers, he would have said he would have the courtesy to do so.

If not just the common sense.

I let my 10yr old read this... He is starting to ride allot more agressive with his bicycle as well as his quad. He knows never to get on his quad without a helmet, but for some reason he thinks he does not need protection on his bike. I hope it sinks in.

Thanks ss97. I knew I was missing something. Drain bamage is a terrible thing. I hope he's bright enough to want to keep what he has left in good shape.
