Default 2000 Honda Rancher ES 350

I have a Honda 350 Rancher ES, with approx. 1300 miles on it, started it yesterday, drove it thru the 5 gears forward for a few minutes, shut it off for a few minutes, then started it, put it in reverse to line it up with the trailer and it's now stuck in reverse, can not start it, and can't even shift it with the factory wrench, can anyone help?

If you can't get the tranny to shift but the shift rod is actually turning,..I say broken shift plate....which was a major problem on that model anyway.
The recall they issued to fix that expired a long time ago but you can still get the upgraded parts and they are not expensive nor are they difficult to install.

when trying to use the electric shifter, I can see the shaft trying to move, when using the wrench I can move the shaft about a 1/3rd of a turn but it springs back

the shaft that you put the wrench on to shift it manually moves as if it's trying to shift but can't complete

If it for sure won't go into gear with the shifter tool -- then it is in the transmission, bent fork or plate

Thanks for all of your help, it seems that you are all pointing to a real internal problem which is over my head as far as me tearing it down and repairing it, I will probably bring it to a shop, is there anyway to start one of these, in the condition that it's in (stuck in gear)?

it won't push backwards, the wheels are locked up (it is a constant 4 wheel drive), but it will roll forward, does this mean anything?
