In a matter of low end power with traction being equal the Rubicon wins every time.

But it's important to realize that the Rincon was never made for hauling outrageously heavy things and doing major work chores. There is a reason that Honda doesnt categorize this ATV as a utility and never has marketed it as anything but a recreational quad.
This is to Honda as what the Wolverine is to Yamaha. Which isn't a bad thing at all.
Yes, it can do work and lots of it but comparing it the Rubicon is doing the apples and oranges thing.

Back to the locker thing ,what about the Detroit Gear less Locker ????? No gears !!!!!Got to be better than that HL locker ??????

Hand warmers for sure
Good tyres
And most important - warm up the transmission before working it.
