well, better a half year late than never, while sealing the cement in our shop i seen the can of mexican gas and rembered that I never did the video. I sent the video just now, but the mic on the cam didnt really pick up the ping. Trust me, its as loud as banging on the bottom of a empty coffie can with a hammer!

Too bad about that clip, maybe I can make one next time I have an engine do that, but just so everyone knows, there is NO mistaking an aircooled 4 cycle knock(detonation.)

MHO It litterally sounds like a nice 16 oz hammer hitting the aircooled flat L head from the inside on mower type engines( this happen with regular gas when the flywheel key get sheared from hiiting a stump or the like)...

If it doesn't sound like a hammer in an aircooled motor it's probably not pinging, and certainly not knocking.(very light pinging doesn't hurt a thing and in fact is the proof that you are achieving the limits of that motor combination/condition. Also of note: many modern car engines have sensors to tell if the engine is knocking, if it detects enough pinging or a single knock it'll istantly retard the timing a few degrees 'on the fly')

Cars and trucks 1995 and newer with OBDII will pull the timming back before it is even herd, but on my 90' toyota truck V6 it lightly pings when i pull 4th gear threw town and it doesnt pull it back. I think the new cannondale with EFI has a knock sensor
