85 TRX250 Fourtrax

Hey,
Does this model have a clutchless manual, or do you shift with a clutch. Its a 1985 Honda TRX250 Fourtrax Utility. It is missing entire driver side grip lever on handlebar. Was this a clutch or no. I don't want to be shifting it wrong. If it is a clutch model I have some work to do!!!
Thanks!!!

The manual clutch (change clutch) is dis-engaged by an arm (clutch lever) on the end of the gearshift shaft every time you shift gears ..
The left handle does have the choke , lights , kill switch , starter button ...

Thats a good question lol the guy I got it from said that the reverse handle was broke. When I step down on the shifter last gear is reverse. Once I hit neutral, if I step down one more time it goes into reverse, and works fine. Maybe something is messed up on mine. I did replace the clutch cover, as when changing filter the screws broke off on oil plate cover. I had to hook up the black wires for reverse and neutral, maybe I messed something up, as before this reverse did not work. I actually have full use of it now, and it functions good. I also have a back brake pedal on oposite side of shifter that I step on, so that how I have been using them. How is the reverse suppose to work, with the brake handle??? Don't even have the handle to figure it out lol

Lol the left hand brake handle has a slot that you push in a tab on the reverse thing, this allows, when pulling in the brake to shift down from neutral into reverse, its doing what ur saying, cause its probably broken and stuck on, but hey if you still have reverse I wouldn't complain, just be careful not to find it by accident lol.

Yeah cood call. I can only imagine finding it on accident, sounds like a trip to the hospitol lol At least it is working. The quad was going to be bought by my friend, but he backed out to get a 4WD, so she's still mine. It looks ok and runs like a top, but does have some issues. This is a pic from earlier today when I took the 2WD out in a foot of snow. Love shaft drives lol
