So is there supposed to be a reverse button on the handlebars? A lot of stuff had been eliminated on this bike such as the e-brake, ignition, headlight, and indicator lights, but I don't know why they would have disabled reverse. Like I said the handle on the engine is still there.

The reverse button on a stock 300 is on top of, and near the pivot point of the left lever (clutch lever). When that button is depressed it drops into a hole in the lever. There is a cable attached to the button. Then, with the button held down, the lever is pulled in like you would pull it to disengage the clutch. The cable that is attached to the button is now pulled. This is the cable that ALLOWS you to shift into reverse. Notice, the cable does NOT put the machine into reverse. It ALLOWS you to pull the reverse lever up that is on the left side of the motor. THIS is what actually puts the machine into reverse. Then you let the clutch out the same as any gear and you will be in reverse. So, there are actually 3 cables that go to the clutch lever. 1) The clutch cable 2) The reverse cable 3) The rear parking brake cable. If memory serves me, the reverse cable goes to the right rear of the engine near the bottom. Check that area and there should be a cable hook up. And maybe you actually HAVE the cable there but just need the button on the lever. Anyway, let us know how you make out.
