My 2006 still is on the original battery too now that I think about it. I just changed the ATP battery as it was staying around 11 volts after charging. (Just sold it so my son can get a Can-Am Renegade) That was a 2005. So, I have about 5 years on my 06 so far. I hope it goes as long as your's did, Specta. So far, so good. I just run the quad once a week.

At $50, I would be happy if it lasted 2 years. I bought a stock $70 Battery from the dealer 4 years ago and it still works great, I leave the battery in the ATV all winter when the ATV is stored ,without a trickle charger or anything.
My best one thought is I bought the cheapest $32 "Everlast" battery from Wal Mart for my snowmobile expecting to get 2 season at most and its still going strong after 4 seasons.

Out here where I live the cheepest battery I could find including WalMart was about $78.
I remember my friend telling me that his only lasted about 3-4 years and bought a new one for about $36 but that was a few years ago, he's the one that I got my new one from.
I really believe one of the tricks to battery longevity is keeping you machine tuned so it starts quickly and I'm sure that a winch shortens the life of a battery seeing that most sealed and maint free batteries are not designed to be drained low and recharged over and over again.
My OE was getting tired, it was time.
