Unhappy CV shaft problems

2007 Rincon: I tore a cv boot on the front about 3 weeks ago and when i did it I noticed I couldn't turn, so I got it home tore it apart and cleaned the cv joint out, regreased and replaced the boot. Everything was fine until I go for a ride today. I wanted to try out the new tire so I went through a decent size mud hole and now it's back to not wanting to turn again. Can anyone help me out?

if you have'nt already I'd replace the torn boot as soon as possible... to avoid further damage... Is the boot binding into the joint? or binding elsewhere?? are the splines lined up? Have you jacked up the front end and tried to turn it??? if it turns while jacked up.. check all the clearances....

I have already replaced the boot and it's not bound up in the joint. When i jack it up and try tp spin it it won't spin very far until it hangs up and when it does hang up it tries to turn the steering. I don't know what's going on with it. It was ok for 3 weeks after i changed the boot but the first time I hit a mud hole it starts screwing up again.

May be just may be you have a broken cv joint, but try to check all the clearance and nut and bolt it may be the problem.

I think i figured out the problem. The damn junk bands that come with the new CV boot came loose and i got water and junk in the joint. I tore it apart again, cleaned it, greased it and put a hose clamp on it. So far it works out real good. Going for a trial run through the mud with it on friday. Wish me luck!

Hose clamp works like a charm! Ran for about six hours and it didn't screw up. Hosed it it off and checked it out and everything is still good.
