Default Oil changes--how often?

How often does everyone change their oil? I've read the manual, but I really don't keep track of how many miles we ride in a season (no odometer on our TRX250's).

Is once a season enough? I had them serviced, but should I change the oil again around mid-summer?

Every 2 or 3 rides...?

I would say it depends on the conditions of those rides (trail/mud, etc) and duration. That can be excessive and expensive. An Oil change on my quad is more expensive to do than on any other vehicle I own.

I change mine yearly at a minimum but keep and eye on how it looks. I got a syringe with a small hose on it and am able to draw up a table spoon or two to see how it looks.

varies on how often you ride. my dad changes his once a year, but uses his like a tractor...low miles but a decent amount of hours. i change my bayous once a year because they are just used in summer and my hondas twice a year, in spring and in fall, because i use them all year

For utility every 100 hours is fine
change new after the first 20 hours (or less)
if high revving - then change as often as you are comfortable with $$$

Hmm, im pretty sure the hondas would by good every 4-5 yrs or so hahaha

Just messin, if u trail ride i'd say twice to 3 times a year, work around the house about 1-2 times a year. But if ur one of those guys that say "if my friends 450 can do it, my 250 can too" then id say about once or trice a month depending on the hrs u ride.

What's more expensive, clean oil and a new filter or a prematurely worn out engine?

Good point. I think I'll start changing at least a couple times a year.

What oil do you guys use? Honda oil? Or an off-brand?
