I dont know how legit this is but my dad used gasoline in the crank case after he drained everything a long time ago dont run it but maybe turn the wheels while its in gear to work the gas in a bit it'll drive out the water i guess. then drain and replace the motor oil.. run it a while then check the oil if its getting white and frothy change it again till it stays oil colored. But I would wait till someone else comments in case my DAD is insane LOL

i wouldnt use gas in the crankcase. the fumes left over could ignite up on initial fireup. causing your engine to blow into a million pieces, it also would cause the rubber gaskets everywhere to leak. just keep changing the oil until you get it all out.

If you actually got grit and silt in the crankcase, a complete tear down and replacement of the oil cooler may be the only cure.

Also, if it ingested water in the intake while running, it is possible it bent the connecting rod.

Anyway, I'd flush out the crankcase, maybe with a mix of ATF and diesel fuel to start, clean the carb, and the airbox and air filter, and fuel tank. Then see how/if it runs.

I had the same problem once.. My girlfriend son hit the kill switch with his hand going thru a big water hole.... We winched it out and got it started eventually and road another 15 miles home. I immediately drained the oil and put new oil in.... Took it for a ride about 5 miles or so and then changed the oil and filter. Been clear ever since.

I dunked my brand freakin' new Grizzley 700 in a deep spot with only a few hours on it, hydrolocking top half. Towed it back to the trailer and got it home. Removed the spark plug and she spun over sprewing water out of the SP hole. Replaced spark plug and stated her up. I only let it run a few seconds and watched all the water get shot out the muffler. Shut her down and changed the engine oil that night - THREE TIMES - letting it get hot at idle in between each change. Also changed all other fluids, serviced air cleaner and she's been good to go ever since.

I was very fortunate.

We drowned two 500 Foreman's on our fishing trip, What we did,

Drain carb bowl, there is a drain screw on the bottom of bowl, drain oil take out plug and turn crank the motor over a few times then do a complete oil change, chain the fliuds in the front and rear diffs. dry out the air filter and air box.

Both bikes started right up and have be running great. The only thing we got lucky on was the gas in the gas tank was still good, but that may be a thing to change also.

Cant see silt getting by the air filter to enter the motor itself.

Everyone forgot the easy stuff,,, drain water out of air box and clean the air filter, if the engine will turn over it is NOT hydro locked.. but still to be safe change all fluids and filters.
may have to change oil and filter couple of times to get it clean. listen for any funny noises.
