There are easy pull clutch levers out there, as well as easy pull arms for the engine side of the clutch cable. I don't know if they make these for the 400EX specifically, but one for another model may work. Additionally, a thumb buddy or similar throttle extender may help on the other side.
As for shocks, plenty of choices out there. I think I would go with something like HLS suspension and a true custom build over off the shelf aftermarket shocks so many places sell. I will say however, I have Fox Float Evols, and they can be set up pillow soft.
A couple other suggestions(I have bad wrists myself) an aftermarket anti vibe stem could help a lot, and those FASST Co. Flex bars are worth every penny to me. Again spendy, because you will need the stem to run the bars.
Last, but certainly not least, you need a steering stabilizer. A stick type will save you $$ and work fine, but the more expensive styles do work better.

This is a departure from your request but thought I would throw these suggestions at you for the point in time when mods on your existing ATV don't solve all the health impairment problems. My wife had rotator cuff surgery and suffers from arthritis. We ended up purchasing a Honda Rancher FPA. This version included the power steering, IRA axle, and auto tranny. Prior to this machine 30 to 45 minutes was all she could ride before pain stopped her. Two weeks ago we rode three different days from 4 to 6 hours and that new machine gave her a new lease on life in riding ATV's
So at the point when you reach the point where the health issues reduce your riding time on that 400EX, try the Rancher. I realize the ride is not the same but any riding is better than none.

I dont know if they make it for the 400 ex, but Rekluse makes an auto-clutch type kit that makes it so you dont need to use the clutch lever to shift, and when you come to a stop, the quad will not stall left in gear with clutch out. It was made for racers,so when then came into corners hard ,it would prevent stalling from improper gear/clutch use. It is spendy, around the 500-600 dollar mark, but it would make it so you would not be pumping the clutch lever constantly, you can still use the clutch as before, but it allows you to shift by just backing off on throttle, without use of clutch lever, and come to a stop without shifting to neutral, or holding in the clutch.I do have to agree with the above post, it may be time to look into a quad that will make riding more enjoyable, because isnt that what its all about? getting out there and riding, without having to suffer for it.
