ATC200 cdi unit
#1
Bike will not start. I'm getting a very weak and intermittent spark so i tested everything with the exception of the DCi unit. The ignition (green) light would light up and the engine would turn over using the start button (but not start). I replaced the cdi unit quoting exact model etc. purchasing the unit from a reputable dealer on Ebay with no reason to think it is faulty. With the new cdi unit connected, the ignition (green) light does not light up but the reverse (red)light does and I cannot turn the engine over with the start button. I can however get a spark by removing the plug and holding it against the head using the pull start.
I have a Hayes Manual but the wiring diagram is very basic and does not include the cdi unit.
I can't find any logic to this problem. It seems that there are some crossed wires, but the cdi unit is a sealed unit. Where can I find a comprehensive wiring diagram showing the cdi unit wiring, or does anyone out there have an answer or suggestion.
Thanks in adavance for all replies

is this like an 84 big red honda? Mine has NO spark with the electric start but fires with the pull. I shorted my neutral safety switch directly to ground and it would start with the elec starter some people have gone nuts enuf to change the wire harness and then admit that the old one was prob ok but just by going thru ALL the connections, they work and no one really seems to care what the real problem WAS since it runs now.

Thought I knew what I was doing, now I'm not so sure.
Could you expand on what you mean by "shorting the neutral switch" and where are those wires located as I don't have a basic wiring diagram. Alternatively can I view one on the forum.
Thanks
Doug
