Fourtrax 300 needs shocks..CV boot zip ties?
#1
I got me a 92 93 fourtrax 300 4x4 and the shocks are TOAST it bounces like uncle bucks car! Now I was wondering if anyone knows a good replacement from maybe another wheeler because honda no longer makes these shocks anymore.. and I wouldnt wanna pay the new price for them anyhow..
I know I have seen this before but have any of you used zip ties on your CV boots? I have a friend who broke a Cv band on a ride and we stuck a decent sized zip tie on it to get home but t was so damn tight he just left it on.. recently we cut it off to see whats up and there wasnt any water or anything inside it so the tie worked well.. Anyone else have good luck doing this? was thinking of cutting all the bands off this fourtrax 300 to give it a decent grease job it hasnt had one in like 18 years..
I saw a monkey and frog doing it.. I will never be the same!

I actually use zipties on all the things we have with CV boots and most of our cusomers as well. Its simple, easy, and it works. About the only concern I would have would be how the zipties held up in rocky terrain. Zipties arent all the same either. Look for the larger ones that are the closest in width to the old cv boot clamp.
As for shocks, honda used 4 different shock manufacturers on the 300 models from 1988 to 2000. The best ones were the Arvin branded shocks used from 96-97 and the Gabriel branded shocks that were used on the 98 to 2ooo models. The shocks for the 2000 year models are priced right and will work great on your older model.
