Since you went to a bigger sprocket the chain is rubbing on the chain guard ( case saver ). Whatever you do don't take the case saver off, if you do and you throw the chain the chances are great that the chain will bust a hole in your engine. Get a dremel or something and shave just a hair off the case saver just enough for the chain not to rub. About the 2nd question don't know never had any.

There is a way to afford wider a arms, just use 400ex a arms, bolt right in, gives you about an inch on each side, then while you are on ebay buying a arms, get the 400ex shock mount kit, and a pair of good used 400ex shocks, along with the longer tie rods, I'm pretty sure you can just use 400ex rods, thread right in,or they do make longer rods for the 300. Not as fancy as a 1000 dollar racing set up, but rides, handles, way better than stock 300ex set up for a fraction of the cost.

What he said. Don't use front wheel spacers. They will make the front end wider but the it will make the handling terrible. And yes, the stock 400ex tie rods will work. If you can afford it, this a-arm setup with some aftermarket shocks works really good.
