Hey all, new poster here. I'm having what seems to be a common problem on these Ranchers but can't find an example with what seems to be my specific symptoms.

I bought the quad off someone for a real good deal. It's jammed in 4th gear, and will not start.

1. Is there any way to pull the quad with a truck or something to pop it out of gear and will this hurt it? Just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

2. The emergency shifter will not shift it either which leads me to believe the angle sensor MAY not be the culprit, but it may be the shift plate. I was wondering if someone could provide me with some troubleshooting steps to find the problem.

The gear indicator is not blinking but it is on. I think I've provided enough info. Thanks in advance to everyone and I look forward to some ATV talk w/ everyone here.

 

sounds like shift star bolt broke /came loose/shift arm broke seen all happen hope that helped wish my elec. prob. was that simple/thats me
