Used quads and break ins?
#1
I am planning on sellin my 99 300ex so i can get a car. After this summer i plan on buying a 400ex. All that i am worried about is if the previous owner broke the engine in right or if he did it at all. What is better buyin new and doin it urself or taking the chances on a used one. Or doesint it really matter?
Thanx.

When you buy new or from someone you know the odds are that you will be alot safer. If you think about the abuse the machines take it would make me leary too.Sometimes you will get a good impression and have to rely on your judgement, but just looking at the machine closely will give you an idea on how it was cared for.

A physical inspection of a used quad is always important. However, your best chance at learning about the history of the quad is by sizing up the owner and the circumstances revolving around the sale. Ask the right questions to determine if the person placed high value in the manner in which it was maintained. For example, the worst case would be the parent who "bought it for the kids to ride." At the other end is the senior adult who simply got tired of it or who no longer needs it.
