Default 2000 honda 400ex starting issues

it was two days ago now when this issue started. i just got done riding and i let the fourwheeler sit for about 2-3 hours and when i went to start it again i had no lights, no eletric start, i had nothing. after messing with it for awhile i found out that if i jumped the solenoid with a screw driver it woud start right up and everything worked on the fourwheeler, but jumping the solenoid was the only way to start it. does this mean that my solenoid went bad or is it another issue im looking over?? Please help

Not sure if this will help or not but my 300ex fuse would cause this from the contacts being dirty. Might try another fuse or clean the contacts.

thank you and i will definatly try that, but iv looked through it pretty well and i cant seem to find the fuse, is it near the battery or is it up near the controls? also correct me if im wrong, but if the fuse was bad then it wouldnt start at all and i wouldnt have any lights right? im just confused because once its running (which i have to jump the solnoid to get it to start) evrything works including the neutral light.

Well the fuse on my 300ex is under the seat close to the starter solenoid. I believe these machines use the same solenoid and probably a close design with how they are wired. If the fuse is not making good contact then your neutral light would not come on and the starter would not engage.

Hopefully someone who is more familiar with this machine will chime in...
