[QUOTE=sportszillasheex;2961565]honda has the most state of the art transmission [QUOTE]

Here's just a little history;

- Soichiro Honda becomes interested in hydrostatic drives in the early 1950s.
- Honda licenses use of a patent for a machine-tool hydrostatic drive.
- Honda debuts the Juno in 1962, a Japanese-market scooter with hydraulic drive. A mechanically actuated system shifted gears via the left hand grip.
- The Honda RC250 factory motocross bike with an automatic transmission undergoes testing in the late 1980s.
- The Honda RC250MA motocrosser competed with the HFT in the 1990 all-Japan MX championship.
- The Honda Fourtrax Foreman Rubicon debuts in 2001 with a new-and-improved HFT.
- The 2008 DN-01 and its HFT are introduced in Europe.

Honda uses them in lawnmowers, snowblowers, ATVs and motorcycles.

I don't see or read every post in the Honda forum but you seldom read about a hydrostaic-trans failure, maybe a sensor or control but seldom a trans.

I have two friends that have experiences problems with theirs. The first one had an oil pump fail that drives the hydrostatic trans at about 1600 miles and almost 1 year out of warrantee. , Tthe second was a trans unit failure around 600 miles and over 18 months out of warrantee, Honda fixed both for free, no deductable, nothing - fixed them for free.

I'm not sure but I think to replace a hydrostaic trans in a Rubicon could cost upwards of $1800.

thats great, but its never a guarantee that it wont break, then what? what if it happens 3 years from now and honda doesnt wanna hear about it? granted, i would not be afriad to buy a honda atv and the only one im really interested is the rancher at, its the only quad thats still competetive in its class. i also like the rincon, but i think its overpriced

On any forum you're going to have people looking for someone that can help them with a problem they're having. ATVConnection happens to be the first on the list of online forums on Polaris' website. I'm not surprised at all that there are people on here with problems. It's not been my experience or my friend's experience that "all they do is break around me". Between us we have or have had 4-5 Polaris machines. None of them had a major problem. My son's ATP had a bad radiator cap. A couple guys got torn boots from sticks that got kicked up. One needed a new battery after 8 years. Horrors....

I think you can open any brand forum here and the vast majority of posts will be people looking for help with problems they're having with their ATVs.

By 2020 I hope all ATVs come with power steering as standard,along with my wheel chair.
