1986 trx250r help please

I have a 86 trx250 valves are rattling pretty bad and very loud.I'm going to have a friend adjust them but he needs to know what to set them at ,(like .002,.003 etc.)Can someone help please?

honda trx 250,engine noise

If it has no valves then what would the rattling be?

If it's a trx250r ( 2 stroke ) they don't have valves. Maybe piston slap, rod bearing? It's not just the sound of the expansion chamber is it?

.003 both intake and exhaust if it's the four stroke fourtrax, as per the internet.
