Default Honda TRX300

I have a '91 TRX 300, the carb is bad and cant afford to fix it, keeps fouling out spark plugs. I have heard that you can completly block off carb with metal plate and run machine like that. Is this true

Welcome to the forums.

That would be false. Blocking the carb means no air or fuel (if you completely block it) and it will not run. Are you thinking of a two stroke that has an separate oil tank?

Welcome to the Forum!

You can try a carb rebuild kit, it's alot cheaper than a new carb. You could also try going with a slightly hotter spark plug and see if that helps. How many turns out on the pilot jet do you have?

Default 1996 honda trx300

I have a 1996 Honda TRX300 and it will start and idle fine, but when i push the throttle it quits. When in gear and pushing the throttle will try to pull but then quits. I have changed the gas and checked the spark plug and the plug appears fine. Any Suggestions

If equipped with a fuel shutoff screen then make sure it's clean and make sure the o-ring above the screen is not breaking off. Clean the carb really good and then see if that helps. It doesn't take much fuel to idle but takes more fuel at a faster rate when pressing the throttle. If you have ever been low on fuel in the tank it will still idle fine but when you press the throttle it will shut off.
