I have been searching for a couple of days now, but no success in solving my problem. My 87 Honda 250 only sparks one time, at the time I first turn the motor over. As soon as the motor starts spinning it will spark ONE time and one time only. Let off the starter button and press it again............again only one spark. I have run across numerous posts on the net with the problem on one spark when someone lets off the starter button........but none when you first press it like mine. Most people say the cdi is the problem. Is there a way to test it with an electric meter? Would a spark at when you first press the start button lilke mine be the same problem as others getting the one spark when they let go of the start button?

 

Not sure what the problem is but I can answer the question about testing the CDI. There is no way to test it. What you do is check everything else and if all is good, then the CDI is the problem.

 

i cleaned off my connections...didnt help any.
