so i just traded my 95 kx 125 for an 87 honda 250x. this thing is in good shape for being 23 almost 24 years old... it does have a few cracks in the plastic that were repaired. the brakes work great! it seems to start hard, and doesnt idle. 1/4 throttle seems to bog hard and then 1/2 to full throttle works fine. in order for it to start i have to give it almost half throttle. it will not start even with the choke on. im going to disassemble the carb tomorrow and clean it. possibly change the plug, and oil tomorrow. so i guess what im getting at is... as far as jet kits go for the 87 250x can i use a 300ex jet kit? i know the jetting recommendations will not be the same and i will have to play around with it some, and the filter differs a little. i will figure out more tomorrow, all i know is, is that im excited because i have always wanted a 250x in decent shape. i have a 450r, and im more excited about this trade, than i was about trading for my 450r... if anyone has any info on the 250x as far as stock jets, or spark plugs, let me know.

 

Sounds like you have a clogged jet . I would take apart the carb and clean it good . I also like the 250x /300ex . I have a lot of 250x parts if you need any .

 

i just got done tearing into my 250x, and man that thing is lucky i saved it when i did. the oem filter was falling apart, the intake boot on the carb wasnt fitting right, the chain had to have 2 links taken out of it, about 3 quarts of oil was drained from it, and it only takes what 1.5-1.8 to fill it? the right rear castle nut was loose and all the lug nuts. i have to apply 1/2 throttle to start it still. but i did spray carb cleaner in the carb and put some stabil fuel the blue stuff in it. it seems to be running much better. when im in 3rd and give it full throttle it hesitates and then goes. i will tear into the carb ASAP and get it in like new condition. i think when the people i traded with got this wheeler it was in pristine shape! then their kid took it to a moto cross track and pounded the snot out of it. one of the front shocks is blown. what do you have for parts bigborekit?
