Default rincon 650 noise at startup-

Anyone else notice a "whirling" sound and sluggish shifting on your cold honda?
I changed the oil to a high quality 5w 30 synthetic- didn't know if that would cause the whirling. Seems to go away slightly 15 - 20 minutes into running. It reminds me of the sound my outlandr's cvt made- but there's no cvt on the honda...

well- I replaced the mobil synthetic with honda 4-stroke and no more tranny slipping or whirling sounds... I guess it does make a difference.

Something else I noticed oil related with the Rincon I recently switched from my 0-40 AMS OIL to 10-40 AMS OIL due to a leak at my front output shaft.. I have no leaks now but i noticed in the cold weather if i don't let it warm up good that it tends to creep forward when in gear at an idle.. Something that it didnt do at all with the 0-40. It isnt a big deal was just throwing that out there.

yup, its a true automotive style autotrans, so your 0w40 oil is close to the weight of ATF while the 10w40 is much thicker so it will cause drag and slow shifting- and even noise in the converter much the same as my Dodge truck shifts like on a 5F morning. If I were you I would run Amsoil 10W30 street bike oil- its wet clutch friendly and would be happy in the rincon's transmission bands & fiber clutch plates while also provideing protection to the top end valve train.
have fun, ride hard!
