What do you folks use to lock up your ATV's? I plan to lock mine while flyfishing, out in the woods. I need some good security, like a good Kryptonite lock, but not sure how to apply which model to my Rancher...any ideas would be appreciated.

I carry a Kryptonite cable lock that has the lock built into it. It is 6ft long I use it to lock the frame to the trailer or small tree. Or you could get their 10-15 ft cable with loops and carry it like a tow strap with a combo lock or the like. You run the cable through itself and then around an immovable object or maybe through the wheel?? If you want it to be a mobile system.

I use a 6' krpto cable I got at Home Depot to look our quads to the trailer and the trailer to our garage floor. Works great. Don't forget to take it off before you try to move though. I speak from experience there.

if ya aren't planning on moving the lock and stuff, i use that harden steel chain used for chains on trucks for holding machinery on the decks.....and a good lock

run the chain through the main frame, then through the holes in the rear disc and sprocket.....then lock the lock and chain to a part of the bike......ie the sprocket, that way its hard for some one to get bolt cutters in to cut the lock (then they have to pic it)

ideally buy or build a loop or something and bolt it to a concrete floor with dyna bolts.....wonder if you could dyna bolt it to a tree?.....or building........as long as it wasn't rotten i guess

Go with the Kryptonite cable & lock. A hardened chain might be good but its going to be heavy!

DryFly- Go to ANY Harley-Davidson dealer. They can fix you up with the latest anti-theft hardware. Later, Mike

I wasn't sure if the Kryptonite folks had a specific application like the NY Noose or the Braided cable...

More than likely I will try to get something like the cable so I can immobilize the bike, through the wheels, just being proactive about keeping my Rancher for years.

Thanks for all the advice.

a easy / lite / cheap way 2 lock ur quad .

1 pad lock ,

through one of the holes on ur rear disc brake . u cant turn the bac tires since it will hit the rare brake pad assembly .

now, i kno that is not hi-tech

also w/ those of u w/ " big as* " utilitys , i dunno if ur rear brake disc is even accessible .

i had a 88 Kaw. Mojave , a kick start w/ no ignition switch either .... nothing

this may work 4 those of u w/ old racer "bare bones" quads , better.

ride on ..luv me [ dont worry i am a chick ]
