E-mail this person at the CT DEP and tell him that you want to be able to ride ATV's in Connecticut legally. We aren't going away and CT needs to realize this.

I really like the way you are talking. That's better than the post you had about selling your Recon.
I'm going to e-mail that guy. Be sure to ask about opening the Pachaug Forest to atv riding. The state gave money to the Central Cycle Club this past summer to rebuild a bridge on the red arrow trail there. The club did all the work But the trail is only open to mtorcycles.
I for one would volunteer many hours of work to mantain a place to ride.
The Pachaug forest ranger station is on rt.49 in Voluntown. The parking for the red trail or "Pachaug loop trail" is at the end of Dow road in Plainfield. That's about a mile off rt 395 exit 87.
Why are atvs any worse for the enviornment than motorcles?

They aren't any worse than dirtbikes.ATV's make two ruts, dirtbikes one.A rut is a rut. It's not like we are cutting trees down and building homes that don't sell like you see everywhere else in CT.Make sure to e-mail Delauro,Dodd, and Liberman, although Liberman is sort of a tree hugger.

Paulgp602,
Thanks for getting the ball rolling by identifying the e-mail address for DEP, the more post the better!!!
Another difference between cycles and ATV's is the attitude of the parents. Some parents see ATV's as toys and let their children ride them unsupervised. Kids get injured and even killed and it is publicised on every TV and radio station in the state. The D.A. Blumenthal is dead against usage of ATV's and would like them banned altogether.
This might seem odd, but I don't even own an ATV, but I did purchase one for my kids (10 and 7). I had every intention of purchasing one for myself right after I purchased the kids ATV, but then found out about the lack of places to ride. (I'm the guy you see with his face plastered against the dealership window staring at a dream machine...) I will make the investment into a machine for myself when the State steps to the plate and open's some land.
Also, don't forget your dealer. They are profiting from the sale of the machine, make sure they are taking some of the proceeds to fund the cause - it's only in their best interest.
