I have a 2004 Recon ES that when I press either the up shift or down shift buttons nothing happens. If I manually shift it into gear the number 1 flashes 8 times which I have read is a angle sensor. Will a faulty sensor cause the problem?

YES!!!!!!!! Be prepared to replace the angle sensor often.

 

Is first gear lifgt blinking three times then pausing then blinking again?...3 blinks should be angle sensor

 

The first gear light blinks 8 times, pauses, then blinks 8 more times

 

I topped the battery off with distilled water and let it sit on a charger overnight and now the light does not blink and it shifts good
