Not if Honda stays with there OHV motors, a 600 OHV will lose to a smaller OHC , look at the 680 Rincons they make the same power as the new 550s and a little more than most 500s.

A 500 OHV Foreman make under 28 hp while most all other 500s make 35hp. So a 600 will still come up short if they keep the OHV format.

Honda should put there XR650 OHC motor in a Foreman and finally offer a true AWD system like everyone else.

Honda also doen't have to haul around an over-weight ATV like some others do.

On a lot of hp/weight figures Honda is not that far off the mark.

No they are not the HP king but there's more to an ATV than just power.

The 2 brands with the highest HP ratings are also the two with the lowest dependability reputation.

The Honda XR650 is a super reliable motorcycle motor, Honda could lose last place in power and still be reliable if they chose.

Every ATV Manufacturers makes more powerful per cc " Utility ATV" motors than Honda yet still have reliable motors.

Not sure about the power to weight reasoning, I ride with a much lighter 500 Foreman and I still with beat it in the lowend grunt and high speed criusing and accelerations. I do not see where the Foreman's lighter weigh helps it.

Honda does not hold the light weight crown of Utility ATVs, a 700 Yamaha Grizzly with diff lockers ,much larger motor, and IRS is only 20lbs heavier than a 500 Foreman, and 50lbs lighter than a 680 Rincon. 2009 Yamaha Grizzly 700 FI Auto. 4x4 ATVs

Yup, i agree with TLC honda really needs to do something, and fast- I also own a xr650r- that engine would work well. they did use that same engine for the TRX700XX so they totally could use it in a rubicon II and i would be suprised if they havent aready built a prototype. I still have fingers crossed that a new large HP ult quad is headed our way from honda

Honda has needed to step up to the pump for several years.

If I bought a new ATV today Honda would be one on a list of 3.
