I just traded my Scrambler for a new 400ex. When I had the insurance changed over they did not give me a price quote because I was in a hury to get back to work. When I stopped in a couple days later to pickup my proof of insurance cards they gave me the bad news. They said it is going to cost me $740 a year to insure the thing with $500 deductibles. I did not know whether to laugh or cry. I was wondering what the norm is. Is this high or not. The policy is threw progresive. Thanks for any replies.

p.s. If you know of a good national company that may be cheaper I would appreciate a name and posibly a phone number.

Just last week I got an Insurance policy on my 400ex. I got full coverage on the bike, $7,500 property damage, $12,500 per person bodily injury($25,000 per accident), $25,000 uninsured motorist, fire and theft with a $250.00 deductable. All this coverage costs only $92.00 a year at Geico.

Geico 1-800-841-3000

PS) Did your insurance company give you a condom with your quote?

It all depends on what the actual amounts of coverage you have are. If you only have something like $15,000 liability insurance it will be alot cheaper than if you have $100,000 worth of insurance. So make sure you find out what they are giving you for charging that much and have them make the changes you want.
Also it depends on what state and zip code you live in. Some states and citys are high risk compared to others so you might pay alot more for insurance depending on where you are.
Also it depends on your age. Somebody who is 25 is going to get somewhat cheaper rates than somebody who is 18.

I did some looking at the policy and I see that I have abought twice the coverage as racer18. I have $25000 per person and $50000 per accident bodily injury. $15000 property damage. And $50000 un and under insured motorist. My insurance man sugested these rates because i just bought a house for whatever that matters.

Really, all you need is the full coverage on the bike, fire, theft and maybe Property damange in case you run through someone's yard, but the cost of landscaping for two tire marks will never go above $7500! The rest of the policy is worthless to me.

But for $92 a year, I said what the hell, give me the whole deal. I will say that Gieco has the best price. Call the # for them I listed in my previous post above.
