Well i think i might have to, i tried a new shift lever and it spins on it as well when trying to put the damn thing in reverse. I really suck at putting this thing in reverse with the whole stupid push pin thing! Any other ideas on making the existing lever work without welding???

you could try cutting into the lever with a cut off wheel or something in the slit on the bottom where the bolt runs through to make it go tighter. or you could drill all the way through and run a small bolt through the shaft/shift lever. but I would try taking some out of that notch first because after you drill/weld (welding makes it somewhat brittle b/c that shaft is (i think) hardened) on it if/when it breaks again it'll be even more of a pita... just my

I have *NEVER* got a welded shift lever to hold for any thing longer then a few shifts.

The shaft is hardened....the weld just plain wont hold.

Tried it several times on several machines.

If you cant get it to hold then just plan on changing the shaft....cause the welding route is nothing but a waste of time.
