Help! Does anyone know if I can use an 86 axle bearing carrier in a 85 rear end?

No the only way you can swap the carriers is to use the same year axle because the sprockets from the 2 different years bolts differently to the axle so if you use lets say an 86 axle in a 85 carrier the bolts that hold the sprocket to the axle will hit the carrier. I can't remember which years but one carrier is narrower than the other.
