Question Best Exhaust for 2005 trx 450

I want to upgrade my stock exhaust on my 2005 kickstart trx 450. I can't decide if I want to get a complete system with pipe and header or just a slip on. From what I can research it seems the difference is minimal in terms of HP. I'm also wondering if brand makes a difference, I was looking at either Big Gun or Motorworks, I like the look of them. I do a lot of trail riding so it's pretty much a bit of everything, straightaways as well as rough rocky terrain. Any opinions??

big gun wont gain you much. and there is ALL the difference in a full system... the power is from the bigger head pipe. HMF is a great exhaust to go with so is curtis sparks.

A slip on will give you only sound maybe 1 or 2 hp with a high flow filter. a full system with a filter will give 5-7 hp that a big difference on a 45hp machine. i run a DG exhaust X5 model it is nice if you do not like a extremely loud exhaust but it still gave mine a noticeable db increase and made it a lower sounding grunt i really enjoy this exhaust. hmf is a very good brand in sport atv exhaust too as it's been said.

Hard to argue with HMF, I am going back to them this year myself. Motoworks also seems to be a good manufacturer, but I would stay away from Big Gun. I don't know how the stock Honda headpipe is, but on the Yammies the aftermarket ones don't add much in the way of power, more for changing the power curve a bit. And yes, I have tried both slip on and full systems on my YFZ.

I first had a FMF slip on, on my 2004 450R, I then switched to a full Yoshimura system and couldn't be happier.
HMF is good, but real loud.

If you go with the new HMF competition series, it comes with a sub 94dB insert, which is right there with any other quiet, aftermarket, performance exhaust. I ran an FMF factory4.1 with megabomb last year, and my brother has the new HMF...

I think I am gonna go with the full hmf. Seems no one has anything bad to say about the hmfs so I don't think I can go wrong there. Thanks for the input.

I'm Actually a bigger fan of HMF now they sponsored the Atv racing series that i race in Alberta so the winners of each class will get a full system for their quad.
