Default 02 Rancher shifting problem, now knock???

Hello,

I recently acquired an 02 Honda Rancher, 2wd with foot shift. I noticed is had shifting problems. It went into first, but to shift into
Neutral required a ton of downward pressure. I've driven many sport and ute quads so I'm aware of the resistance needed to shift. Also going in and out reverse was impossible. I figured it may needed to be lubed or something. So after some research most people said to adjust the clutch nut. I adjusted it twice initially not realizing the whole thing was moving. After these adjustments the shifter clicked so much easier, but the bike wouldn't move when in gas and in gear.

So I re-adjust it, this time holding the nut while adjusting the screw, than keeping the screw while tightening the locknut. After this I'm back to my original problem. So I decide to adjust the idle and try to lower it. After warming it I adjust the idle but get 0 response from this and the nut comes out of the carb. Now I'm getting upset. I put the screw back in the carb and tighten it.

After as I'm checking the bike I notice the shifter is shifting nice, and the bike is moving while in gear and on the gas. But now I'm at my current problem. I get a knocking when the quad is in gear coming from where the clutch adjusting
Nut is. It only does it I'm gear, neutral has 0 knock. So I'm wondering what's going
On? I dent have this knock at all before I adjusted the clutch. Now I have and it doesn't sound or feel good. It's metal on metal knock and really rocks the bike from left to right.

Any help on what I need to do? I'm hoping
It's just another clutch adjustment? I was wondering if
I can adjust the clutch adjuster screw with the quad running and in gear? It knocks as if the clutch is catching. Like I said before it didn't do this
Before so I hope it's just more adjusting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I would take it to a local Honda Dealer and have it check out before it something bad happens to your Clutch.
