Default 86 200 TRX hard to start

Fresh gas, new plug, new battery, adjusted the valves, new fuel filter and a brand new carb. Can get it to start with starting fluid. Runs for about 20 minutes and then dies. Have to drain the carb, dry off the plug and use fluid again. After it dies and I crank it, you can see gas sputtering out the air cleaner side of the carb. As I said it's a new carb and maybe something didn't get seated correctly. Thank for suggestions.

What groove did u put the clip on the jet needle? Standard setting is 3rd groove. You prob already know that but never hurts to ask. Float level might be too high, or if the gas tank lets alot of debri go, the air jet could be clogged. Thats just a few things that might be the problem, with the carb itself. Definitely make sure the sparkplug is the right one. Is the new carb the same style that that u replaced it with, if not it might have to be adjusted to match the motor, if its an aftermarket that is made for a few different size atvs. These are just a few things to think about. I bought an aftermarket for my trx125 same style and it was running so lean and backfiring, dying that I thought the pulse generator or my cdi unit had gone out. I turned the pilot screw a turn and a half out counterclockwise and my idle screw 1/2 turn clockwise. Thats the best its run since i had it.

Hopefully that might give u a few ideas to look at and if not or u already checked all those out, sorry for the jibborish.

May want to check the fuel tank vent tubing. If yours is the thru-the-cap type, you can test by riding until it dies and immediately and slowly remove the cap and listen for air being sucked into the tank. If you hear air being drawn in, your vent is clogged or your cap is bad. Also as mentioned, check for proper settings on the new carb. If it's set too lean it could be overheating to the point of shutting off.
