I just picked up my new Rubicon from Lake Hill Motors & Marine in Corinth, Ms. LONG DRIVE but worth it. Saved over a thousand dollars over the best deal I could get locally. Are there some things I should check before I set out in the woods this weekend? I checked the O-ring in the oil filler cap and it is there. Everything looks goods and sounds good but I just wanted to see if there are any "common" things the dealers forget to do.

I've heard that some lock-tite on the shift **** set screws is a good idea. Some people have had theirs fall off. Also check the throttle cable for slack. I heard they can have a lot of play in them, so I checked the one at our dealer last week when I (finally!) got to sit on their first one. The thumb throttle pushed a third of its travel before it started to pull the cable.
Good luck with your Rubi and tell us how you like it.

YukonRon gave some great advice. Put some Lock-Tite on those shifter screws and take the slack out of the throttle cable. Other than that just look over the vehicle to make sure nothing seems odd and that the dealer did their job. The main things I would do is check the fluids and torque the lug nuts.

TexMud - any other maintenance you've done on your Rubi? If memory serves, you were one of the first in this forum to get one. How many miles do you have on it and what's your overall impression now that you've lived with it and modified it (tires). Thanks.

Question- how do i know if there is a lot of slack in my throttle cable? is it a very complicated procedure or can just about anybody do it...i don't want to mess anything up...would a dealer know what to do?

EZErriicc, The procedure can be done in less than 5 minutes with the key to the quad and some pliers (because the lock nut is too tight for your hand). Instructions to do so are on my site. I'm not sure about a dealer, they have NEVER touched my quads.

Norseman, I've done it all! I only have about 400 miles since I can only ride on weekends and cant ride every weekend. I have changed the oil, diff oils, serviced brakes, rejetted, cleaned carb, put on bigger tires, installed a snorkel, SANK IT, etc. Overall I have loved the Rubicon and would buy another.

I also drove a long way, not as long as you did, to Corinth, MS to buy my Rubicon from Lake Hill Motors. I'm from Little Rock, Ar. They told me on the phone that people would drive from Florida to buy from them. I didn't believe it until I showed up there, there were 2 trucks from Florida there. Anyway, I've only put 40 miles on mine, the only thing that I found wrong with mine was the toe out. With help from several on this forum, I have correctly set the toe out (I think!). I do need to locktite the shifter screws, I believe it's a fairly common problem that these get loose and fall out, even the dealers will tell you that.

I paid $6,299.99 out the door for the Rubicon at Lake Hill Motors & Marine. You can go to thier website and they have all of the prices posted. No sales tax to out of state buyers, no prep fee, no additonal dealer profit or any of the other fees that the local dealers here add on. After paying for the trip, I still saved $750.00+. The guy that I dealt with had everything set-up and ready to when I got there. Quick and easy. They will also install any extras that you buy while you are there at no cost and no sales tax. I don't think the no cost installation would apply to something like a winch which would take a while. They did install "stick stoppers", throttle extension and front and rear baskets at no charge. And as a bonus while you are there, the girls in the office are something to be admired! That may be why time seemed to go by so fast. Anyway, it was well worth the drive.

Folks:
I just picked up a new rubicon yesterday and I could not be happier. This is great! I am writing to let you in the deal I got since I already picked mine up. How does 5,999 out the door sound. Unit must be delivered by the end of march.
Since I was out of state no sales tax.

Dealer?
Bartlesville cycle sports

It was a 3 hour drive from my home in Kansas City and well worth it.

Give them a call...
