Honda Rancher

Yes i just rebuilt the engine on my rancher. new cylinder, piston, rings, and gaskets. well when i cranked it for the first time the other day it ran great but then i noticed when it was idling that the oil pressure light started flickering but when you gave it a little throttle it stopped. what would be the cause of that?

Thanks for the advice. also could it possibly be i have somewhere on the valve cover or down on the crank where the jug sits that could possibly be causing me to lose pressure even if its just a little leak?

Why was the cylinder and piston replaced? If your cylinder or piston was broken or chipped the metal from them could have got picked up by the oil pump!If that wasn't the case then I would check the rocker arm oring [the small one on top of rocker assy].
